Nine women from around the globe will speak about their involvement in kabaddi and the challenges faced during the inaugural Virtual Women in Kabaddi Forum organsed by the World Kabaddi on March 8, 2021.

The Forum is being held in conjunction with the International Women’s Day celebations.

The panel of women who have confirmed their participation in the unique forum are:

SHAILAJA JAIN (INDIA): The qualified kabaddi coach is well known for her role in coaching the Iranian kabaddi team to the gold at the Jakarta Asian Games.

KAWAL DAS (ENGLAND): Has been a long serving secretary of the England Kabaddi Association.

PERPETUAL MUTHONI MBUTU (KENYA): A former Kenyan national player, she is now an executive council member of the World Kabaddi.

USHA RANI (INDIA): An Indian national player, Usha Rani rise in kabaddi is as inspiring as it can get. The Asian Games medallist is attached to the Karnataka State Police.

THERESA BURROWS (ENGLAND): Theresa is a trendsetter for women’s sport. She was once the only female player in all-male rugby team and led England to the silver at the 2011 Women’s Circle Kabaddi World Cup.

NADIA ANTER YASSEN AHMED ALY (EGYPT): Nadia is the Egyptian women’s team Captain and the chairman of its Players Committee. She is also a Wrestling champion as well in judo and kungfu.

HASHVINNE KANNAN (MALAYSIA): Currently pursuing her final year law degree she was a member of the Malaysian national team that finished third in the last World Cup.

ASHURA ALLY MKUNGU (TANZANIA): Ashura is the national captain of the Tanzanian women’s team and played at the last Africa Cup.

HEATHER SPURLING MCGOWAN (SCOTLAND): Heather is the current captain of the Scottish women’s kabaddi team and has played in Denmark and the USA.

The Forum will be in line with the theme for this year’s International Women’s Day Celebration: #CHOOSE TO CHALLENGE. The forum to be moderated by World Kabaddi Secretary General S.T. Arasu, will be hosted live on the World Kabaddi Facebook page.
