Malaysia Kabaddi Federation (MKF) is all set to take legal action against the Kabaddi Association of Malaysia (KAM) for the latter’s attempt to sabotage the conduct of the Beach Kabaddi World Cup to be held in Port Dickson from 26th-31st August, 2025.

The Beach Kabaddi World Cup 2025 is being held under the auspices of the World Kabaddi, of which the MKF is a national affiliated body.

The KAM in letter dated 17th June 2025 addressed to the sports exco of the Negri Sembilan state government, spread malicious lies against the MKF and the World Kabaddi in an attempt to derail the conduct of the Beach Kabaddi World Cup.

The Beach Kabaddi World Cup is expected to see more than 20 countries from around the globe participating. This includes teams from Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong China, Pakistan, India, Nepal, Azerbaijan, England, USA, Argentina, Egypt and Kenya.

The KAM had claimed in their letter that the MKF is only a club level organisation and is not empowered to conduct national level competitions. For the record, the MKF is duly registered by the Sports Commissioners Office as a national level sports organisation since 2011.

The KAM had similarly attempted to sabotage the inaugural World Cup Kabaddi held in Melaka in 2019, despite being informed by the Olympic Council of Malaysia (OCM) that they had no jurisdiction or legal authority to stop the tournament.

The MKF is affiliated to the World Kabaddi at the global level and with Kabaddi Asia at the Continental level. KAM on the other hand is affiliated with the International Kabaddi Federation (IKF) and the Asia Kabaddi Federation (AKF).

These are two completely different organisations and the KAM, despite being fully aware of the situation, had with spiteful intentions, decided to undermine the Beach Kabaddi World Cup.

MKF was picked by World Kabaddi to host the tournament, catering for its own membership, with all fundings to host the tournament coming from international sponsorships.

The IKF attempted similar tactics to stop the Kabaddi World Cup in West Midlands earlier this March. The attempt fell flat with the World Cup, which saw India winning a double, receiving huge international broadcast coverage worldwide including on BBC and DD Sports.

The MKF has now sent a cease and desist letter to the KAM through their lawyers, demanding the withdrawal of their letters, a written apology and a sum of RM 1,000,000 in damages to be made within seven (7) days.

World Kabaddi fully supports the steps taken by the MKF is also looking to its own legal recourse against both the KAM and the IKF.
