World Kabaddi will celebrate this year’s World Kabaddi Day on March 24, with a virtual gathering. With the Covid-19 pandemic still affecting the resumption of kabaddi activities in most parts of the world, the virtual celebrations is the natural step forward.

PLAY! PASSION! PRIDE! is the theme for this year’s World Kabaddi Day. The World Kabaddi Day was initiated in 2019 by World Kabaddi as part of its strategic plan to promote the sports of kabaddi globally.

World Kabaddi was formed in 2018 and now has a membership of more than 50 countries around the world. The date chosen as World Kabaddi Day also coincides with the formation of World Kabaddi.

It is hoped that the kabaddi fraternity from throughout the world would be able to join World Kabaddi in the virtual event on March 24 at 6.00pm Malaysian time (GMT +8). The link for the virtual meet would be given later.

It would be simple programme lasting not more than 30-minutes for members to assert their commitment to promote and develop the game.

We hope that all member countries would be represented in the virtual celebrations. Kabaddi enthusiast are also encouraged to attend, but due to limited number of places available, it would be based on first-come first served basis.

The virtual celebrations aside, member associations from countries that have been opened up for sports, are encouraged to conduct kabaddi events of their own to celebrate the occasion.

Such events should be designed to be a fun event that creates awareness and enthusiasm for kabaddi in the participating communities. The event should be opened for everyone, regardless of age, background or fitness level. With a focus on grassroots initiatives, it should inspire people to take up kabaddi competitively or socially.

To create visibility for the World Kabaddi Day, all participants are encouraged to use the following hashtags #worldkabaddiday #playkabaddi #onekabaddi and #worldkabaddi in all the event social media engagements. We also encourage members to use the tagline to send World Kabaddi Day wishes on our official social media accounts.

Organisers of events for the World Kabaddi Day are also encouraged to register their events with World Kabaddi. Registered organisers would be able to use the official title of World Kabaddi Day 2021, the official logos and get the chance for their event to be promoted on World Kabaddi Website and social media platforms.

Registration can be made through the World Kabaddi website at https://www.theworldkabaddi.org/world-kabaddi-day/
