China aim to take kabaddi forward

Kabaddi a sport that is growing rapidly around the world is now ready to conquer the second most populous country in the world – China.

World Kabaddi officially welcomes China as its newest member under the leadership of its core founders Zhang Chuanlong, Wang Yanlei, Li Yongbin and Yao Chaofan.

World Kabaddi has been in discussion with the Luoyang Kabaddi since last year when the secretary general S.T. Arasu visited China last year.

The Luoyang Kabaddi Promotion Team is now upgraded and rebranded as World Kabaddi China.

The organisation will now be the sole official representative body of World Kabaddi in China.

They will now have the exclusive right to develop and promote kabaddi in all parts of China.

Apart from hosting the proposed China National Kabaddi League and Super League, they will also be eligible to host international tournaments. World Kabaddi is currently in discussion with the Chinese organisation to host a major international tournament in the next 12 months.

Coaching and Technical Official courses and certification are also being planned by the organisation.

The federation will now also be the sole organisation in China to select their national team players for all World Kabaddi sanctioned events.

“The formation of a national level organisation for kabaddi in China is very crucial for the sport,” said World Kabaddi secretary S.T. Arasu.

China has not participated in any international kabaddi championships since making their debut at the 1990 Asian Games in Beijing.

“Obviously, we are excited to have China in our fold as the nation is a major global sporting nation. We believe that a stronger Chinese international participation would also help the sports globally,” added Arasu.
