The National Style Kabaddi is also known as Asian Style and Rectangular Kabaddi. It is the most popular of three formats of kabaddi played globally.

Beach Kabaddi is the basic form of kabaddi played on sand. The rules are much simpler and the game is played on acourt that does not include lobbies, baulk or bonus lines.

Circle kabaddi is a more physical version of the game that combines kabaddi and wrestling. It is played in a circle shaped court and is more popular with the Punjabi community.

World Kabaddi was originally registered in the United Kingdom but since 2025, the registration has been relocated to Canada.

Kabaddi is not an IOC recognised sport yet. No International kabaddi organisation has been recognised by the IOC till date.

World Kabaddi is a member of The Association for International Sports for All (TAFISA)

On World Kabaddi Day (March 24, 2024), a Guinness World Record was set in Panchkula, India, for the

most players in a kabaddi exhibition match, with 128 players participating The event was organized by HIPSA and World Kabaddi, lasting over two hours and involving teams Arjuna and Abhimanyu.

World Kabaddi has five continental members – Kabaddi Asia, Kabaddi Africa, Kabaddi Oceania, Kabaddi Europe and Kabaddi Pan America.

Africa is the fastest growing region for the sport after Asia.
